Frequently asked questions

Before the Forum

How do I get an invite to the Forum?

The Forum is an invitation only event. We welcome applications to help us identify potential delegates who will contribute to our mission of accelerating the impact of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs. Please apply here.

What is the attendance fee?

The attendance fee for the Forum is £700-£1200. The fee is determined by the sector in which the delegate works. There is no reduced rate, or ‘early bird’ registration. There are a limited number of assisted places available to all delegates. These are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

I have submitted an online application to attend the Forum. When will I hear from you?

Thank you for your application. We are reviewing all applications and will respond to your request in early January. Thank you for your interest in attending the Skoll World Forum.

If I can’t attend the Forum, how else can I be involved?

Key sessions from the Skoll World Forum will be streamed live, and many others will be recorded in the form of video, audio and photography. Social reporters will also share insights from the Forum in the form of blogs, tweets, videos and photos.

I am attending the Forum. How can I make the most of the Forum?

You can connect to other delegates and speakers via My Forum, a virtual space that is available to you before, during and after the Forum. My Forum is a vibrant yet private online community of your fellow delegates that enables powerful discussion and the sharing of ideas and resources.

It allows you to connect with fellow delegates, arrange meetings, participate in blogs and discussions and will allow you to plan your Forum schedule in advance.

Do you provide assistance with obtaining visas?

We can provide letters of support confirming attendance at the Forum. Please contact registration@skollworldforum.com for assistance.

At the Forum

How can I participate in communicating about the Forum during the event?

You can follow @SkollFoundation and @SocialEdge on Twitter and view photos on Flickr. You can tag your own Skoll World Forum blog entries and Flickr photos (swf10) and Tweets (#swf10). Or you can follow discussions on www.socialedge.com. The @SkollWorldForum Twitter feed will be used for live updates around activities at the Forum.

Can I bring a guest to any of the Forum sessions?

Guests are not permitted at any time to attend the Skoll World Forum.

Is there Internet access available at the Forum?

WiFi access will be available to delegates. Information on how to connect will be available upon arrival. There are over 8,000 hard-wired Internet ports in the building. Please bring your own Ethernet cable.

What provision is there for access/disabled facilities?

Arrangements can be made for alternative access requirements – please email registration@skollworldforum.com.  Information on each college and the quality of their access can be found at www.admin.ox.ac.uk/access.

Who do I notify about dietary requirements?

Specific dietary arrangements can be made through the registration process.

What is the dress code?

Dress is professional. You will be seated for much of the day in presentations and lectures, or standing and socialising, so dress to be comfortable. Bring comfortable shoes for walking, as there is a 15 minute walk from the Saïd Business School to the Sheldonian Theatre.

How can I offset my carbon emissions to the Forum?

If you wish to offset your emissions, Climate Care is a service that helps individuals and organisations to repair the damage they do to the climate. Through its award-winning carbon reduction projects Climate Care will reduce the pollution (CO2) on your behalf, to offset your own contribution to climate change.

We have offset the calculated carbon emissions for our event and donated this sum to the CleanStar Trust Plant a Biofuel Tree Campaign.

In an effort to minimise the footprint of the Skoll World Forum we have made every effort to use recycled materials, packaging, Forest Stewardship Council printing companies, and fair trade products.

I have a question that is not listed here. Who can I contact?

Please email us – registration@skollworldforum.com.
